Proper maintenance of your CCRJ Studios wood products is essential to preserve their beauty and longevity.
Outdoor items require more frequent care due to exposure to the elements. We recommend using weather covers for outdoor pieces to provide additional protection.
Outdoor Product Care
Our products are finished with multiple coats of 100% Tung Oil to seal the wood fibers, followed by a coating of Teak Oil for UV protection. Over time, depending on exposure to sunlight and moisture, reapplication of Teak Oil may be necessary. To refresh your piece:
Clean the surfaces to remove dirt and dust.
Gently buff the surface with 0000 steel wool.
Use a tack cloth to eliminate steel wool residue.
Apply at least one coat of Teak Oil, buffing with steel wool between coats as needed.
Follow the instructions on the Teak Oil container, and wipe off excess oil after 10 minutes of application. For significantly weathered items, light sanding followed by resealing with 100% Tung Oil and a subsequent Teak Oil application may be required.
